Samuel S Griffin III
Samuel S. Griffin, III, is co-founder of Griffin & Matthews. In his over 40 years of practice, Sam has engaged in a general civil practice focusing on business and transactional related matters, insurance defense litigation, and commercial litigation. He has represented a wide variety of clients on issues related to personal injury, real estate, corporate law, commercial litigation, estate planning and probate, and insurance defense litigation. His client base consists of publicly traded and privately held businesses and individuals. Representative clients include E&P/drilling/downhole technology companies, construction, plumbing/electrical contractors, manufacturing/industrial processing companies, commercial/residential development companies, ranching/commercial grower enterprises, technology developers, financial institutions, and service companies of multiple types including CPAs, attorneys, physicians, business/marketing consultants, sales/distribution representatives, etc. Additionally, for most of his career, he has represented multiple insurance companies and their policy holders by defending claims involving wrongful death, errors and omissions and property/casualty losses.
Mr. Griffin is a private pilot. He has also been a licensed real estate broker since 1980. He co-founded Griffin Development, LLC, a real estate development firm with commercial and residential projects in Houston, Austin, west Texas, the Rio Grande Valley, and Vail, Colorado.
Board Positions:
Until July 2020, Mr. Griffin served on the Board of Managers of Scandrill, an onshore drilling services company with rigs working for major oil and gas exploration companies in the Ark-La-Tex and Permian Basin. He is also a Director of Unmanned Ad-Hoc Industries, Inc., a global data collection company specializing in unmanned aerial vehicles and their application to the energy, wind, telecommunications, security, and construction sectors. Mr. Griffin is honored to have served as a director of Caymus Energy Fund Offshore, Ltd., a market-neutral equity fund focusing on domestic companies in the energy industry engaged in the exploration and production of oil and gas and other natural resources; Impact Guidance Systems, Inc., a developer of high quality intelligent downhole tools for the drilling/completions and data acquisition aspects for the oil & gas industry; and, ResTech, Inc., a multiple disciplinary reservoir evaluation services company specializing in the integration and interrogation of subsurface data used in the upstream oil and gas industry. As he has over the years, he continues to volunteer as Director and officer of property owners associations.
